Glengoyne Cask Strength is a Highland single malt from the Glengoyne Distillery at Dumgoyne, just north of Glasgow, which has been distilling since 1833. The distillery is famous for running the slowest stills in Scotland and for using only air-dried, unpeated malt, producing a richly flavoured whisky entirely free of smoke.
Released in small batches, this expression is matured in a hand-selected mix of first-fill oloroso sherry casks, first-fill bourbon barrels and quality refill oak, then bottled straight from the cask without chill filtration or added colour. The nose is generous and sweet, with ripe banana, digestive biscuit, cinnamon and rich Christmas pudding, while the palate is big and thickly textured, balancing oak spice with toffee, sultana, caramel and vanilla.
The finish is long and warming, with lingering caramel and honeycomb. Bottled at full cask strength, it is a bold and deeply rewarding malt for the serious whisky lover.
