Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders Red Ale 6.2% 6 Pack Bottles 750ml

Duchesse de Bourgogne is a Flanders red ale from Brouwerij Verhaeghe in Vichte, West Flanders, a family brewery dating back to 1885. The beer is named in honour of Mary of Burgundy, the duchess who was born in Brussels in 1457 and whose portrait graces the label.

After primary and secondary fermentation, the beer is matured in oak casks, and the final blend combines a younger beer aged for around eight months with an older beer aged for eighteen months. It pours a deep reddish brown with a fine head. The aroma and palate offer ripe cherry and plum alongside notes of oak, vanilla and balsamic, with a sweet and sour balance that finishes fruity, tart and refreshing.

Serve lightly chilled in a tulip or wine glass. It is excellent with rich meats such as duck or venison, charcuterie, mussels, aged cheeses and chocolate or fruit desserts.
