A village-adjacent Bourgogne Rouge from Domaine Sylvie Esmonin, the 5–8 hectare family estate based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy. Sylvie took over from her father Michel from the 1990 vintage, shifting the estate from selling in bulk to bottling its entire production under her own name, and has since built a reputation among the most accomplished producers of Gevrey. The estate is farmed organically.
100% Pinot Noir from vines around the foot of Gevrey-Chambertin. Expect a Bourgogne Rouge with real depth of colour and a wide, silky aromatic profile - red fruit with some deeper plummy notes, a touch of spice and the stony, mineral character that marks the domaine's wines - leading into a mouth-filling, fresh and long palate.
Hand-harvested, with careful whole-cluster work depending on the vintage, natural yeast fermentation, and ageing in French oak barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration, in Sylvie's precise, low-intervention style.
