Domaine Jean Grivot is one of the benchmark estates of Vosne-Romanée, with 15.5 hectares farmed across some of Burgundy's most prized ground. The domaine was built up by Étienne Grivot and his wife Marielle (sister of the late Patrick Bize) from 1987, with daughter Mathilde Grivot now at the helm since 2017. The family holdings include parcels of three grand crus — Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux and Richebourg.
A village-level Vosne-Romanée from across multiple parcels in the commune, 100% Pinot Noir. The 2021 shows the freshness and aromatic lift of a classical, cooler Burgundy vintage — red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal and a touch of spice, with the silky texture and underlying density Vosne village wines can offer in the hands of a great producer.
Farmed organically (uncertified). Grapes are hand-harvested and largely destemmed (around 95%), given a cool pre-fermentation maceration, then fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak with around 20–25% new barrels.
