The Anjou Blanc Veau hails from the western side of the Quarts de Chaume hill on pure schist, giving a fiery spice. It’s intensely concentrated, ripe and creamy, with a richness of texture reminiscent of a sweet white. The 2020 is a little oxidative, displaying pastry notes from extended time on lees. There’s grip and tension on the finish, holding you tight. Still, the alcohol is on the high side.
