Delirium Red is a cherry fruit beer from Brouwerij Huyghe in Melle, East Flanders, the family brewery behind the famous pink elephant of Delirium Tremens. Rather than using lambic as its base, Delirium Red blends cherries into a strong Belgian ale, giving it a richer, fuller character than many traditional fruit beers.
It pours a deep ruby red with a light pink, compact head. The aroma is soft, with notes of almond and sour cherry, and the palate is tangy and fruity with a well-judged balance of sweetness and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp, making it an excellent dessert beer.
Serve chilled in a tulip glass. It pairs well with chocolate desserts, cheesecake, fresh berries and soft, creamy cheeses.
