From one of Burgundy's most revered estates, the Confuron-Cotetidot Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 is a compelling village-level expression from the Cote de Nuits. Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, based in Vosne-Romanee, traces its winemaking heritage back to the seventeenth century. The domaine was formally established in 1964 through the union of the Confuron and Cotetidot families, and is today managed by brothers Yves and Jean-Pierre Confuron, both qualified oenologists.
The estate is renowned for its uncompromising, traditional approach to Burgundian winemaking. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo 100% whole-cluster fermentation — a practice the family has maintained for generations. Extended maceration of two to three weeks and ageing of up to 24 months in predominantly second and third-fill barrels ensure depth and complexity without overwhelming oak influence. The wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve their authentic character.
Expect a richly concentrated, old-school Burgundy with layers of dark currant, earthy undertones, and sauvage nuances. The palate is textured and structured, with fine tannins and a lingering, balanced finish that speaks to Gevrey-Chambertin's reputation as one of the great red wine appellations. This is a wine built for the long haul, rewarding patience with graceful complexity over time.
