Chandon Australia was established in 1986 by Moët Hennessy in the Yarra Valley, Victoria, bringing Champagne-method sparkling wine expertise to Australian shores. The Cuvée Riche is Chandon's uniquely Australian take on the sweeter French "doux" champagne style — a richer, more luscious sparkling experience that still finishes refreshingly crisp. It is made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes from Victoria's finest cool-climate vineyards.
Pale straw with a fine, persistent bead, the nose is enticing with aromas of guava, ripe tropical fruits, vanilla, dried apricot, and hints of brioche and cashew. The palate is soft and opulent, with dried fruit and savoury yeast-derived creaminess in the mid-palate — generous, well-balanced, and beautifully sweet — finishing long and refreshingly crisp.
Serve well chilled in a flute or white wine glass. A wonderful aperitif and a beautiful match for fruit-based desserts, soft cheeses, or simply enjoyed on its own.
