Cameron Bridge 26 Year Old Special Release is a single grain Scotch whisky from Diageo's Cameronbridge distillery in Fife, established in 1824 and one of the oldest and largest grain distilleries in Europe. Released as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2022 collection, it was notable as the first time Cameronbridge had ever appeared in that line-up, with 2022 denoting the year of release.
Matured for 26 years in refill American oak casks, it was given a long, gentle maturation in wood chosen for its restrained influence, allowing the distillery's naturally soft, sweet grain character to take centre stage. The result is an elegant, mellow style that showcases the velvety house signature.
The nose brings sweet toffee, caramel and cinder toffee, balanced by cask char and a green herbal lift of tarragon and mint, with barley sugar, vanilla cream and stewed apple. The palate is creamy and rich, with coffee, toffee, singed caramel and polished oak, dark chocolate and a tart edge of blackcurrant, closing on a warming, spiced oak finish. A refined, long-aged grain whisky for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
