Calle 23 Añejo is the work of French-born Master Distiller Sophie Decobecq, one of the few female tequila makers in Mexico. Produced from 100% blue Weber agave grown in the red clay soils of Los Altos de Jalisco — the Jalisco Highlands — this añejo is aged for 16 months in ex-bourbon barrels, developing a refined balance between sweet agave character and mature oak influence.
The nose opens with cooked agave, vanilla, and caramel, underpinned by toasted oak and a hint of sweetened espresso. On the palate, smooth and creamy flavours of sweet agave, baking spice, dried fruit, fudge, and subtle chocolate unfold alongside an earthy lime undertone. The finish is agave-rich, with vanillin sweetness dried gracefully by oak and cigar tobacco.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Calle 23 Añejo is best enjoyed neat or over a single large ice cube to appreciate its layered complexity, though it also shines in spirit-forward cocktails like a Tequila Old Fashioned.
