GR/M is Brad Hickey's Grenache–Mataro blend under the Brash Higgins label — a minimal-intervention McLaren Vale project based at the Omensetter vineyard. Hickey, a former sommelier in New York, has built a reputation for character-driven wines from McLaren Vale and the warm, dry Riverlands.
A blend of Grenache and Mataro (Mourvèdre) from Blewitt Springs. Expect perfumed dark and red berry fruit, with the lifted, spicy character of old-vine Grenache tempered by the earthy, savoury depth of Mataro. Medium-bodied, approachable and drinkable, with fine tannins and fresh acidity.
Hand-harvested fruit is vinified with minimal intervention, using small open fermenters and seasoned oak or local amphora, in keeping with the Brash Higgins philosophy of letting site and variety speak clearly.
