23rd Street Distillery Australian Whisky 200ml

23rd Street Distillery is based in Renmark, South Australia, on the corner of Renmark Avenue and Twenty Third Street, in a site with a distilling history stretching back more than a century. The distillery was relaunched in 2016 by a group of local producers and now works across gin, whisky and liqueurs using its historic copper pot stills, Pot One and Pot Two.

This is an Australian whisky built on a blend of premium Australian barley malts chosen for a balance of fruit, spice and caramel warmth. It pours a glinting golden amber, with aromas of citrus, orange blossom and caramelised fruit. The palate carries sweet oils and biscuity malt framed by vanillin oak, with dark chocolate spice, roasted nut and toffee unfolding toward a lingering, creamy finish.

After fermentation, the wash is distilled through the distillery's two historic copper pots, with each still used to draw out different characters and intensify the natural flavours and sweet oils of the malt. The spirit is then matured separately in ex-Bourbon American oak along with a small number of richly seasoned Tawny barrels. The warmth of the Riverland climate is tempered by a well-insulated barrel hall, allowing maturation to progress steadily year-round. The whisky is matured in oak for a minimum of two years, with older archive parcels blended in for added depth and dimension.
