Hellyers Road Distillery 20 Year Old American Oak Oloroso Finish Cask Whisky 700ml

First barrelled in 2002, this single malt spent two decades maturing in American Oak (ex-Bourbon casks) before an exquisite finish in 40 year old Oloroso sherry casks, adding incredible depth and complexity. Released at 54.2% ABV, this whisky is one of the oldest Australian whisky releases - a true collector’s piece.

The presentation box is as rare as this whisky is. These unique presentation boxes were designed by the Hellyers Road team and are exclusively hand-crafted for Hellyers Road from one of Tasmania’s most premium furniture and joinery timbers, Tasmanian Oak.

Tasmanian Oak, is namely for its slight resemblance to French Oak, however is not a true oak (Quercus spp.). Tasmanian Oak comes from the timber of three Eucalyptus species, E. regnans, E. delegatensis, and E. obliqua which are widespread throughout Tasmania. It was selected by Hellyers Road for our most exclusive whiskies for its warm colouring and fine straight grain suited to the most precise woodworking.

Hellyers Road sustainably sources the Tasmanian Oak used to craft its exclusive presentation boxes as sawmill offcuts direct from the Tasmanian sawmill. The presentation boxes were designed specifically to be able use of these short offcuts to minimise sawmill wastage and maximise the beneficial use of this precious resource. The timber itself is sourced by the sawmill from sustainably managed, PEFC accredited, regrowth forests. No old growth forest timber is used these presentation boxes.
