The 2022 Domaine Matrot Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Le Charmois" is a standout white Burgundy
that reflects the exceptional growing conditions of the vintage. With an early budburst and
a warm, dry summer, the grapes achieved balanced ripeness and acidity, resulting in a wine
of both precision and depth. Aromas of fresh citrus and hazelnut lead to a palate marked by
vibrant acidity, pronounced mineral tension, and a long, vertical finish—qualities that draw
comparisons to esteemed Puligny-Montrachet climats. Vinified with indigenous yeasts and
aged for 12 months on lees in oak barrels (30% new), this wine showcases complexity and
richness.
This is also aromatically cool and airy with its array of lemon rind, white flower and smoky mineral
reduction scents. The delicious and vibrant flavors terminate in a crisp, even crunchy, clean, dry and finale that
is also ever-so-mildly austere. This is firm enough to repay a few years of keeping though the mid-palate is
sufficiently supple that it isn't absolutely necessary
