Domaine Derey Marsannay Les Genelieres 2021 750ml

The Dereys decided to use just 50% rather than 100% whole bunch vinification and no sulphur until after malolactic. The vines were planted using pinot fin ex Domaine Ponsot in 1973. Rich purple, the nose is explosive and not quite in control in this sample. The wine on the palate though has a superb intensity which comes from the quality of the vine material, a good site and intelligent
winemaking. There is a layer of velvet over and above the others and excellent persistence.
