The Tiers Vineyard, planted by Brian in 1979 in the Piccadilly Valley, was the first modern vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and remains an emblematic site for Australian Chardonnay.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e100% Chardonnay from the close-spaced 1.5-metre-by-1.5-metre block within the Tiers Vineyard, planted on rootstocks with Dijon clones in 2003 and a small portion replanted later. The vineyard sits on podsolised red-brown earths and duplex soils over schists and sandstones. Expect a youthful, energetic and fragrant Chardonnay with grapefruit, lemon curd, nectarine and tonic-water aromatics, leading into a lithe, complex palate with fine lacy textures and long, mineral, crunchy acidity.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHand-picked, with chilled grapes whole-bunch pressed and cool-fermented.
