Rita Hills in 2016. Alongside its own estate vineyard, Racines works with a handful of the appellation's most respected sites, and Bentrock is one of the most striking of them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBentrock sits at the western end of Santa Rosa Road, where Racines farms two north-facing parcels of Chardonnay. The upper block is exposed and windy, with very rocky soils, while the lower block is sheltered by the hilltop and carries more topsoil. The fruit is fermented with indigenous yeasts in a mix of puncheons, barrels and barriques with a modest portion of new oak, then spends around a year in barrel and a further six months or so on lees in tank before bottling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe result is a pure and vibrant Chardonnay, opening with aromas of crushed rock, lemon confit, white flowers and a touch of mint.
