A medical graduate turned winemaker, Mike pioneered high-density planting in Margaret River and built Pierro's reputation on Chardonnay of monumental power and silky delivery, with the Pierro Chardonnay listed in Langton's Classification of Australian Wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe VR (Vintage Reserve) Chardonnay is made only in exceptional vintages and is a barrel selection of the best ten barrels from the season. The fruit comes entirely from the Gin-Gin clone, planted on rocky lateritic gravel soils in close-spaced rows. Expect a rich, opulent yet finely poised Chardonnay with stone fruit, white peach, butterscotch, citrus, lees-derived creaminess and a sustained, mineral-edged finish built for cellaring.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHand-picked and barrel fermented, with full malolactic fermentation, regular lees stirring and extended maturation in French oak.
