It carries a Vin de France label, which says nothing about the quality and everything about a Burgundian working outside his own region.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSavagnin handled this way is a revelation: green apple, lemon peel and bruised pear on the nose, with a curl of hazelnut and something faintly waxy behind. The palate is taut and saline, with a lower pH than Chardonnay gives and a vivid, mouth-watering line of acidity, finishing dry, stony and unusually long.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePierre-Vincent Girardin is the thirteenth generation of his family to make wine in Burgundy and the son of Vincent Girardin.
