Meres is the most exposed of the estate's Pinot Noir plantings, and its Miocene sedimentary soils carry less loamy topsoil and more clay subsoil than the other blocks, keeping vigour and yields naturally low.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2024 a wet winter and a stable spring gave way to a damp December and January, before warm, dry weather brought harvest forward slightly. The fruit was fermented with ambient yeasts in stainless steel with 20% whole bunches over 14 days, then pressed to French oak barriques (20% new) for indigenous malolactic fermentation. After 12 months in barrel and a single racking, it was bottled unfined with one filtration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRed cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry lead the nose, joined by rose petal, dried thyme and earthy spice. The palate is supple and red-fruited, with fine chalky tannins, fresh acidity and a subtle savoury edge, along with notes of cranberry and blood orange through a long, persistent finish.
