The block's clay soils are studded with a high proportion of ironstone pebbles, a siliceous influence that gives Farrago its characteristic linearity and minerality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2024 season opened with above-average winter rain and a stable, moderate spring. Wet weather in December and January demanded careful canopy management, before warm, dry conditions condensed the end of the season and harvest began slightly earlier than usual. Yields were below the long-term average, but the fruit was picked optimally ripe. As with all of Kooyong's single block Chardonnays, the fruit is whole-bunch pressed into French oak and rested on lees without bâtonnage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePink grapefruit, mandarin pith and white flowers lead the aromatics, with pastry, spice, flint and a hint of sea spray. The palate brings citrus, apple and white peach over a mealy texture, framed by fine phenolics and bright acidity before a long, saline finish.
