Fabien Duveau is the only grower who releases a Chenin Blanc from the lieu-dit, drawn from a tiny plot of just eight ares in the village of Chace, planted back in 1976.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe terroir is sandy clay over Poyeux sandstone, and it gives a Chenin of unusual aromatic intensity. The nose leans towards dried fruit, quince and orchard fruit with notes of honey and toasted nut, while the palate is broad and textural yet held together by a firm line of acidity. Vinification takes place entirely in oak barrels of differing ages, which builds depth without dominating.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuveau is an eighth generation vigneron based at Chace, a few kilometres south east of Saumur on the left bank of the Loire. He farms twenty hectares split across roughly forty parcels of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, converted to organic and biodynamic viticulture and certified by Demeter in 2023.
