Virgile Lignier, who took full charge of the estate in 2000, has built its reputation on lower yields, ploughed soils, whole-bunch fermentation and a restrained use of new oak.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes is a blend from two lieux-dits, one on clay and the other on soils richer in limestone. Around 80% whole bunches were used, with the vinification handled carefully so the wine shows the delicacy of Chambolle rather than the firmer character of Morey.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe nose is very fine, with fresh rose petal, red fruit and a stony, mineral edge. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant with fine tannins, leading to a fleshy, smooth finish with light spice.
