Le Rognet sits on the eastern side above Ladoix-Serrigny, where iron rich limestone and a good deal of stone in the soil give Pinot Noir a firm, mineral backbone. This is the summit of Domaine Guilbert-Gillet's range.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBenjamin Guilbert founded the domaine in 2020 with René Gillet, having trained in Mâcon and Montpellier and worked at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Domaine de Montille, Domaine Guigal and Clos des Lambrays. Farming is organic and sustainable and largely done by hand. Three selections are made at harvest, the fruit is fully destemmed, and after a long maceration and slow pressing the wine spends at least eighteen months in barrel without racking before gravity bottling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExpect a grand cru of real scale and poise. Dark cherry, blackcurrant and wild bramble are layered with violets, iron and warm spice, the tannins are firm but polished, and the finish is deep and persistent.
