Run by Philippe Chesnelong since 1998 with input from his cousin, the celebrated Bordeaux vigneron Louis Mitjavile (Domaine de l'Aurage), the property comprises around 15 hectares of vines, farmed in a low-intervention, sustainable style.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe flagship Les Brunes cuvée comes from a south-east-facing hillside parcel planted on basalt soils, an ancient lava flow. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon-led (typically 60 to 80% depending on the vintage), supported by Syrah and a measure of Mourvèdre. Expect an almost black-tinted, deeply concentrated wine with ripe black fruit, cassis, leather, dark chocolate and spice, leading into a dense, silky and infinitely long palate of remarkable depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHand-harvested at full ripeness, destemmed and given a long maceration.
