The vines were planted in 1995 on steep south and south-west facing slopes between 335 and 455 metres, on limestone bedrock under a shallow, rocky clay topsoil, and the fruit is hand picked, sorted and fermented with roughly 40 per cent whole bunches.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe nose is lifted and peppery, with red cherry, cranberry and crushed flowers over a light savoury spice from the stems. The palate is bright and energetic, with crunchy red fruit, fine-grained tannins and a fresh, faintly stony finish. Altitude keeps the whole thing lively in a way that lower vineyards rarely manage.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDavid Duband took over his father Pierre's domaine in 1991 and has since converted the entire estate to organic farming, completing the change in 2006.
