It is named for Bertrand de Goth, owner of the property before his election as Pope Clement V in 1305, and has been directed by Bernard Magrez since 1985.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAround 60 hectares are planted on the old Pyrenean gravel terraces that give the estate its reputation for terroir. The red is led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in close to equal measure, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and is matured for roughly eighteen months in French oak with a high proportion of new barrels.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe style is deep and polished. Blackcurrant, dark plum and black cherry come with smoke, liquorice, mocha and the warm gravelly note of the appellation, while the tannins are ripe and finely worked.
