This wine is drawn entirely from the close-planted MV6 block at the Lance vineyard in St Andrews, planted in 1989 at 8,300 vines per hectare - remarkably tight spacing that pushes the roots deep and encourages small, concentrated berries.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt's a more structured, serious expression of Yarra Valley Pinot, with bright red and dark cherry, alpine strawberry, bergamot, subtle florals and fine savoury spice. The palate is simultaneously concentrated and light on its feet, shaped by fine, well-defined tannins and bright acidity, with the oak integrated and the fruit carrying the wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHand-picked in late February and fermented with 100% whole berries (no whole bunches) for two weeks on skins. Pressed to just two 225-litre barriques, where it completed malolactic fermentation and rested on fine lees for 11 months prior to bottling.
