The name means new beginning, and the estate has since become one of New Zealand's benchmark Pinot producers, its home vineyards fully organic since 2014.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMcCrone is the oldest of the single vineyard bottlings, first made in 2006. Roughly 800mm of clay sits over the gravels here, and that heavier soil gives a darker, more brooding style of Pinot Noir, richer and rounder in the mouth with tannins that have an almost cocoa powder texture. The nose is perfumed and pretty, with orange blossom lift over dark cherry and plum.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it a decant and serve with duck, lamb, mushroom dishes or a hard cheese.
